Methodology

We see our work as drawing on three interdependent strands: understanding, innovating and making.

Understanding

Through our consultancy work we have developed a close understanding of large scale projects and masterplans. We are able to offer big thoughts and explore propositions on a scale beyond that which many small practices have the opportunity to build.
Our consultancy work is built on an ability to tease out the essence of a problem very quickly and to talk straight. We are particularly adept at assisting clients and their teams from the outset of a project to clarify thought processes, involve user groups and to express alternatives. This results in a clear and informed brief for the project going forward.

Innovating

Having understood the brief, we set about the challenge of addressing it whilst adding value through our innovative and creative approach. We believe it is our role to offer clients unique solutions which give them a commercial advantage, showing that innovation does not automatically mean risk. We seek to introduce difference and to promote the necessity, relevance and affordability of innovation.

Making

We take advantage of any new technology that might aid communication but still place great emphasis on the skills of model-making and drawing. We have a reputation for the informative and creative use of physical models in projects as narrative tools, allowing clients and users to explore the potential use of a space, without ambiguity, at the early stages of a project.
We have a passion for well-crafted man-made objects and environments, pursuing a strategy of research and design. With this, the art of finding solutions through building and experimenting allows us to develop practical and innovative design solutions. We enjoy the detailed crafting of individual projects; the grand idea is only as good as the quality of its construction.
